Don’t take my word for it. Listen to fellow Career Adventurers like Bob Gilbreath, writer of The Workaround with 8k+ subscribers.

“I’ve been adventuring quite a bit in my career. If I think about all the people I’ve talked to about career stuff in the past, it feels like many are wanting some direction and encouragement to think this way - to let go of the fear, take more control, and put less trust in their employers.”

Career Adventurer will help spark your career mind. Don’t miss a story…

But Why, REALLY???

We live in a non-linear career world. We also live in a world where psychological trust between employees and employers is dysfunctional at best and fractured at worst. The old world of 25 years of mutual loyalty with the same company and a Rolex at the end doesn’t exist.

Today, we all are a downsize, bad manager, or life changing moment away from needing a new path. Prepare yourself passively. Hear from REAL PEOPLE with REAL STORIES on finding their way in a volatile and uncertain world. We discuss how they explore interests, feed their strengths, and do it in a feasible way, minimizing risk.

You’ll specifically hear…

  • Unique stories, journeys, and perspectives - You’ll find the general human interest entertaining, even if you’re not looking for a career change.

  • Ideas and resources I would almost guarantee you hadn’t thought of.

  • How people are being cool humans - It’s not just about climbing ladders. It’s about balancing the personal and professional for maximized purpose

Why I Do This

I just want to help. That sounds cliche, but it’s true. According to Gallup, worker engagement is at an 11-year low. Less than 1 in 3 workers are engaged. The work world is not keeping up with what people want.

In the past, people were most focused on their pay, annual review, and weaknesses. Today, people focus on their purpose, development, and strengths. Yes, pay is still important. But, people want more than just a paycheck.

That’s why I am curating personal stories both from my own career bank and others. Career Adventurer puts how people are finding purpose, developing, and leaning into their strengths on full display.

Why Me

I get it. I’ve worked in a over a dozen industries. I’ve had dozens of jobs from operations to economic development to finance to marketing to sales. I’ve worked at some companies for nearly a decade and others for less than a year.

Plus, I’ve led teams at venerable companies like Procter & Gamble and E.J. Gallo winery. And, I’ve done it all while managing career risk. I’ve made some pretty big leaps and stayed with some pretty ho-hum jobs. In all, I’ve figured out how to go with the career flow while figuring out how to save a little money.
